About the Position:

The Bozeman Symphony is holding auditions for Oboe II / Utility English Horn. Throughout the course of our concert season, Bozeman Symphony performances and events typically include a series of seven classical subscription concerts and two Bozeman Symphony Presents performances aimed at engaging and attracting new audiences. Symphony members are also encouraged to participate in our other optional programs (like our combined performances with the Montana Ballet Company & Symphonic Choir), as well as our Education and Community Engagement programs by performing (solo or in smaller ensembles) around the state of Montana.

A concert cycle typically consists of 4-6 rehearsals beginning on Tuesdays, and 2-4 performances between Friday and Sunday. Each season consists of around 80 services. Rehearsals typically take place during the evenings, and all engagements are held at the Willson Auditorium, located on Bozeman’s Historic Main Street, unless otherwise specified.

Compensation:

  • Section Pay: $70 / service

We offer mileage reimbursement up to $200 for musicians residing in Montana, and travel reimbursement up to $350 for out-of-state musicians. We also provide accommodations during concert weeks, upon request.

Audition Process:

The Bozeman Symphony conducts a multi-round audition, generally consisting of 2-3 rounds. Audition times will be scheduled on the day of the audition. The first round is always blind, and the following rounds are at the discretion of the committee. Candidates are granted a warm-up period before their scheduled audition time. If candidate does not win the audition, they may also be considered for substitute opportunities.
